We are very excited to recruit new English language teachers, to work alongside experienced team members, for this innovative, programme organised jointly by UWC Atlantic Experience and Peartree Languages. Following on from two incredible face-to-face courses in 2022 and 2023, we are delighted to be invited back to this amazing campus for another summer. There will be many returning students in 2024, along with plenty of new faces and we would love you to come along and be part of our ELEA journey! The ELEA EFL tutors will work alongside the pastoral and activity team at UWC Atlantic Experience to deliver an excellent, safe, highly enjoyable educational experience for all course participants. Safeguarding, students' well-being, student satisfaction and the overall smooth running of the programme must be a priority at all times. Enthusiasm, creativity, a strong sense of responsibility, maturity, positive energy, the ability to work as a member of a wider team along with general willingness to be involved in the programme as a whole are a must. You should be able to react positively to feedback and possess excellent communication skills. We will consider all work and life experience equally important to the length of EFL teaching experience when assessing applications. It must be understood that as a member of a Residential team, you are expected to act at all times appropriately in any situation, at any time, where you are the closest person to the incident. Key Details: • A maximum of three pre-course training hours - mainly online OR face to face if already in the South Wales area.
• Arrival evening 17/07/24 or the morning (before 9 am) of 18/07/24
• 2 full days of induction (paid), training and professional development sessions 18/07/24 + 19/07/24
• Course dates: 20/07 - 03/08/24 (inclusive)
• 30 teaching hours over 14 days any time, normally between 9 am and 5 pm
• 12 hours over 14 days any time lesson preparation/administration/meetings/training
• 14 off-site cultural excursion leading hours over 14 days, normally between 9 am and 7 pm
• 6 - 10 on-site cultural social programme hours over 14 days, normally between 6 pm and 10 pm
Hours are approximate but should not exceed 44 hours per week.
Please note that you may be required to perform other supervision duties from time to time to ensure the smooth running of the course, these could be academic in nature or form part of the social programme. You will be expected to carry out these duties responsibly and actively. Additional duties will NOT include overnight supervision of students or the overnight camp. There is no obligation to live on campus for the duration of the course provided you can fulfil all duties required as per the timetable. 1.5 days off over a 14 day period, which could be half or full days, depending on the final timetable.Qualifications:
• TEFL certificate
• Hold a minimum of three years demonstrable experience working with young adults or young learners (under 18). (This role is not suitable for newly qualified tutors).
• Desirable experience: Work in residential summer settings
• Desirable experience: Teaching lessons based on the UN Sustainable Development Goals
• Desirable experience: Work in residential summer settings
• Desirable experience: 5 years demonstrable experience working with young adults or young learners
• Desirable experience: Course creation or materials development
• Desirable experience: Previous mentoring or academic support responsibilities
Salary and Benefits:
• EFL Tutor: £1,190 per 14 day course, plus holiday pay
•The above remuneration is inclusive of other pre-course meetings (online) before course start, maximum three hours
• Remuneration for two initial induction days: £140 total, plus holiday pay
• NO deduction is made for accommodation / meals.
• Staff accommodation is a private room in a shared staff house on site, with access to own cooking facilities. All meals are included (3 per day) while the course is running along with snacks and drinks provided in the staff house. It is possible to remain at the College in accommodation on days off / mid-point non-course days.
• taff can use the wide range of facilities at the campus during free time as per availability including; a full gym, two swimming pools (indoor and outdoor), tidal beach, tennis courts and enjoy the grounds and surroundings which offer spectacular views and opportunities for coastal path walking/running.
